The third part of our Let’s Play of Super Mario Brothers 2. This one gave us a HUGE amount of difficulty when it came time to editing. Mainly because Powerlink kept crashing over and over again for no reason we could discern. So the end of the video is a little rushed due to the fact that we were both losing our patience very, very quickly. Apologies for that, but I think it turned out rather well otherwise.
In Medieval times Morpheus was heralded as the god of dreams and sleepers. Originally he was written about in Ovid’s Metamorphoses, though later writers throughout the medieval era would use him in their stories as well. Event to this day Morpheus still exists in much of fiction.
Morpheus and Iris, by Pierre-Narcisse Guérin, 1811
Outside of medieval fiction and into the reality of our modern era, the name Morpheus may soon come to mean something much more interesting and important. Morpheus being the name that Sony has given to it’s latest virtual reality project for the PS4. Morpheus is a VR headset that takes the place of your television screen and will supposedly allow you to get fully immersed into the world of the game. Recently Sony unveiled the Morpheus at the GDC and gave out a full presentation on the machine and what it can and will do.
For people like us who are interested in the idea of virtual reality this is potentially a great landmark in the way gaming will be done in the future.
I’m mostly interested in all of the possibilities for playing my large collection of Japanese porn games in VR. That will be FUCKING AWESOME!
Renegade Kid, who has made games for the DS like Dementium, have already started a kickstarter fund to provide funding so that they can explore this new technology and begin producing their new game for the system. We’ve left a link in case any of you are interested in participating and adding your support behind the project.
Square Enix recently came out with a little pet idea of theirs, a crowdfunding program called “Collective”. This idea has the potential to do some very good things for the video game industry and it does quite a bit to reinforce my lagging feelings for Square Enix.
You may not know this, probably because I’ve yet to mention it, but out of our three most beloved video game companies Squaresoft and Enix were two of them. So when they collided together and became Square Enix we had the hope that this would cause a massive eruption throughout the entire Space-Awesome Continuum (yes, that’s a real thing, look it up damnit). Whether we got it or not is debatable, but mostly lately it’s been more of an alternation between a minor ripple and a plunge into the eternal nether realms of complete and absolute shit (I’m looking at you Final Fantasy 13).
So it was really great when Squeenix announced that-GODDAMN FINAL FANTASY 13 SUCKED! WHO THE FUCK CAME UP WITH THE IDEA OF MAKING THAT PILE OF SEAGULL EXCREMENT!EVEN AN AMATEUR WHO HAD NEVER TOUCHED A VIDEO GAME IN HIS LIFE COULD HAVE KNOWN BETTER THAN TO DESIGN THAT KIND OF GAME!AND WHO’S BRILLIANT IDEA WAS IT TO ADD IN THAT WHINY LITTLE BITCH OF A KID!FUCK I WANTED TO BITCHSLAP THAT LITTLE RUNT!NOT TO MENTION A FUCKING STORY THAT DOESN’T ACTUALLY BOTHER TO TELL YOU ANYTHING ABOUT WHAT’S GOING ON FOR THE FIRST TWO FUG-HUMPING HOURS OF GAMEPLAY!WHO THE HELL WRITES LIKE THAT!FUCK!!!!!
……….ummmm, sorry. That tends to happen sometimes when I think about Final Fantasy 13.
Anyways it was great when Square Enix announced the idea of Collective. Through Collective developers can post their ideas for games and game content and get feedback on the idea directly from gamers about whether those ideas should be made real or not. If the idea has sufficient approval from the audience over the period of twenty- eight days then Squeenix pledges to help those developers create a crowdfunding proposal on Indiegogo. The first of these approved projects World War Machine, will go into crowdfunding sometime around the end of April.
This has a good chance of giving players a unique opportunity to work with the developers to create the kind of games that we would all like to play so I’ve sort of taken a special interest in this since I’ve known about it. Both myself and my opposite encourage you to go and take part in it.
